Warrington Borough Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to ‘the non-compliances’ listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- Heading is missing text – the name of the page needs to be added
- Link identified only by colour – this is when a link is marked as strong or in italics
- Link text used for multiple different destinations – the text for a link is on the page more than once
- Missing button in form – a button needs to be added to form to make it easier to use
- Alternative text for image is identical to link text – text needs to be added to describe an image
- "Bold" tag used to format text – this should be done another way, using something called a “strong” tag instead
- iFrame is missing a title – this is a name for something on the page
- Colour contrast is insufficient – this means that the text needs to be obvious
- Element not highlighted on focus – this means that part of a page needs to be different when you move to use it
These issues have been identified by our Siteimprove software as either A or AA compliance, some of the issues will be fixed by changing the content on the pages but others need to have the website software
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word documents.
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix [example of non-essential document].
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
